channel strip settings

Hey guys, I just installed my friends copy of logic 8 on my computer because I wanted to see the difference between 7 and 8. I currently use 7. After installing all my channel strip settings and plugin settings for both dissapear. What should I do? Logic 8 and 7 cannot be together?
Let me know if should I re-install or there's a way to just install the settings
